Hello and welcome

Thanks for joining us while we share our thoughts and knowledge of "old ways for new days".

We primarily spend our time outside - either tracking or foraging in the woods, gardening, shooting traditional archery, or in Sam's case...flint knapping. And if the Washington rain keeps us indoors, we find ourselves crafting with sticks, buckskin, leather, and, of course, edible and medicinal plants. Since our lifestyle isn't a "modern-day norm", we've decided it's time to connect our woodsy ways with modern day technology (so we're not completely off the grid...yet). Thanks for looking us up and we hope you enjoy what you read!

Rachael is a wild-crafter, wise woman herbalist, gardener, educator and an advocate for land stewardship. She started Wildness Within with the goal of bringing together people and plants in as many ways as possible. Rachael is a student of the natural world and, in return, finds herself teaching both kids and adults the wonderful ways of wandering and connecting with the wilderness. She has a degree in Ecology and Evolution Biology and has completed multiple apprenticeships with Herbal Mentors of Washington and beyond. If Rachael is not playing in the woods, you might just find her fermenting, wildcrafting, gardening, basket weaving, tanning hides and cultivating relationships with people, plants and animals.
