Wild Botanicals is a series of classes created on the basis of the harvest season in Snoqualmie Valley. Classes are in-person, outside and within the ecosystem of the plant(s). Students will learn botanical ID, look alikes, growth habits and harvesting ethics, plant processing and preparations. We will work with both wild and cultivated plants with edible and/or medicinal uses based on the class theme. Students are encouraged to bring their own in-field medicine making materials to experience the full process of field to kitchen medicine.
Summer season brings us closer to the cultivated annuals and perennials- noticeably, wild plants handle summer drought or hot weather by blooming earlier in the year and using this time to ripen fruits and seeds. Join us for a summer wild botanicals series tracking a plants medicinal and edible potency through dry weather.
