Winter Wild Botanicals- 3 Class Series

Wild Botanicals is a series of classes created on the basis of the harvest season in Snoqualmie Valley. Classes are in-person, outside and within the ecosystem of the plant(s). Students will learn botanical ID, look alikes, growth habits and harvesting ethics, plant processing and preparations. We will work with both wild and cultivated plants with edible and/or medicinal uses based on the class theme. Students are encouraged to bring their own in-field medicine making materials to experience the full process of field to kitchen medicine.

While winter wallows away, we feel the surge towards moving our bodies and connecting with the outdoors. The storms have changed the landscape which offers a new perspective on what seasonal offerings the natural world provides. This is the time to turn towards the trees– exploring the layers of the overstory, the starkness defining their bark, the running sap beneath their thick outer bark and their buds swelling with the light. It’s a time to tend to the dormant roots in the softening soils. What soon is bare will soon be full of growth.

The time of tree medicine. The time of ROOT medicine.
