Join Rachael at the Wilderness Awareness School for a weekend exploring wild edible plants of the Pacific Northwest! During this workshop we will introduce you to the basics of wild edibles while cultivating a lifelong relationship with plants.
You will learn:
Plant identification
Wild plant nutrition
Ethical and safe harvesting techniques
How to avoid poisonous plants
Plant morphology
Traditional uses of wild edibles
How to process and safely use wild plants
Participants will have an opportunity to harvest and work with wild spring edible plants. Preparations may include nourishing infusions, culinary salts, infused vinegars or a collaborative feast buffet. Resources ranging from wild edible plant species lists to nutritional and toxic plants powerpoint slides as well as recipes and book recommendations will be offered to participants as a guide to continue their wild food journey.
We will practice ways of fostering a deep connection to the land and individual plants. Our approach is both intellectual and intuitive. This will help you create a multifaceted relationship with native and local plants to support your specific health needs on many levels.
